Eyes

What mysteries does evasion hide?
What lies behind escaping eyes?
A furtive glance,
Secretes disdain,
Love had its chance,
Replaced with pain.
What truth is told when glances meet?
Stories unfold, lives bittersweet,
Visions shared,
With blinded faith,
Rose-tinted lens,
Now jaundiced gaze.
A picture’s worth a thousand words,
A look about the same,
So what is it, which is conveyed,
By the look away?
Maybe it tells a of thousand secrets,
You won’t betray.
Our end is nigh,
After many years,
And I spy, with my little eye,
Something closing in tears.
