OGAM:

Welsh Folk Music with a difference

OGAM

OGAM

Founded in 1995 to compete in the Cnapan festivals 'Cythrel Canu' competition in which the group was successful. Ogam subsequently represented Wales at the Pan Celtic festival in Trallee, Ireland where it was also successful. Subsequent highlights have included a tour of Brittany in 1997 and the Montreal International Celtic Festival 2001.

However it wasn't until 2000 that the band recorded the first dedicated CD of their arrangements - 'O Gam i Gam' (SAIN SCD 2271) which received widespread critical acclaim:

".....is a very impressive debut by a talented group of musicians"
Edward W Reid NINNAU
"The players distinctly classical approach suits this particular combination and is evident as much in their phrasing as in the blending of instrumental timbres....the tune arrangements are never less than inventive"
David Kidman TRADITIONAL MUSIC MAKER
"The album will please fans of several instrumental folk and classical traditions, particularly those with a love of the baroque, and the less raucous Celtic ensembles".
